StarryPic is a weather-forecast app for astrophotographers and stargazers. It tells you whether tonight is worth setting up, driving to a dark site, or skipping. It is not a guarantee of weather conditions. Atmospheric forecasting is inherently uncertain; we surface that uncertainty honestly via the ensemble agreement metric, but you alone are responsible for any decisions you make based on what we show.

You need an account (Firebase Auth — Google or email/password) to save locations, receive push notifications, log sessions, or subscribe to Pro. One account per person; don’t share login credentials. Lying about your age (you must be 13+) or impersonating someone else terminates your account.

You can delete your account anytime by emailing us (see Privacy).

Free for personal use, forever. Includes:

• 7-day forecast at one location
• 2 saved locations
• Full Tonight verdict + Sky AR + planetarium + constellations
• Sunset Tonight push (when notifications enabled)
• Light-pollution map + dark-site catalog
• Session log + community match data

We don’t promise the free tier will exist forever; if we ever need to retire features from it, existing users keep access for the rest of the calendar year and we give 60 days’ notice.

Pro is sold as an in-app purchase through the iOS App Store or Google Play Store only — we don’t process payments directly. Pricing is set by tier in those stores (currently US$4.99/month or US$29/year, with regional localization).

14-day free trial. Apple / Google won’t bill until day 15. Cancel anytime before then; no charge.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions auto- renew until cancelled. Manage or cancel in your App Store account settings (iOS) or Play Store subscription settings (Android). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period.

Refunds. Refund requests go to Apple or Google per their policies. We don’t hold your money so we can’t refund it directly. If a refund is granted, the store notifies us and we downgrade your tier.

Don’t:

• Scrape, automate, or otherwise abuse the API. We rate-limit and may ban.
• Reverse-engineer the IAP receipt path or grant yourself Pro by faking receipts. Apple/Google catch this and so do we.
• Submit illegal, hateful, or harassing content in session log notes / photos.
• Use StarryPic to facilitate harm — e.g. tracking someone’s location without consent.

We can suspend or delete your account if you do. We don’t owe you a warning for clear violations.

Session log notes and photos you submit remain yours. By submitting them you grant StarryPic a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display the photo as part of the community feature back to other users in the same geographic area, with no attribution required beyond your username (if shown). You can delete a session log at any time and the photo is removed from public display.

Forecast accuracy. Weather is noisy. We show four-model agreement so you can judge confidence yourself; we make no warranty that the forecast matches reality. Don’t make safety-critical decisions (flying, driving in remote terrain, etc.) based solely on what we show.

Service availability. StarryPic depends on Open-Meteo, Firebase, App Store, Play Store, and several other third-party services. When they go down, parts of StarryPic go down. We monitor and fix where we can, but we don’t guarantee uptime.

As-is. StarryPic is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StarryPic’s total liability for any claim arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (for free-tier users, that amount is $0). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute that can’t be resolved informally is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bangalore, Karnataka, India.

We can update these terms; we’ll email you at your account address before material changes take effect, with at least 30 days’ notice for breaking changes. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new terms.
